Channa Daswatte is a prominent Sri Lankan architect, designer, and writer, celebrated for his significant contributions to South Asian art and architecture. He serves as the Chair of the Geoffrey Bawa Trust and Lunuganga Trust and is a co-founder of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka.
After completing his studies, Daswatte joined Geoffrey Bawa's architectural consultancy, where he contributed to several notable projects, including the Kandalama Hotel and the design of a new official residence for the President of Sri Lanka. In 1997, he was appointed director and partner of Geoffrey Bawa Associates Private Limited.
Daswatte is also a partner at MICD Associates, a leading architectural firm he co-founded in 1997 with Murad Ismail.
An accomplished writer, Daswatte co-authored Sri Lanka Style – Tropical Design and Architecture and has contributed extensively to both international and local journals.
In addition to his architectural practice, Daswatte has been actively involved in academia, serving as a lecturer and examiner at various institutions, including the Colombo School of Architecture and the University of Moratuwa.
His work not only preserves but also reimagines cultural heritage, positioning him as a key figure in the development of South Asian art and architecture.
