Bilaal Raji Saheed is a visual artist and architectural designer based in Colombo. He has an MA from the Royal College of Arts, London and a BA from the University of Hong Kong. He has worked on projects with OMA and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and collaborates on design projects at the Hatch Makers Studio. While at the RCA he explored the spatial politics of the Nuclear Family and its impact on art and design. His work explores themes of form, identity and spirituality. He works across multiple mediums and disciplines with paper, pixels, concrete, and acrylic among other materials. He has exhibited in Hong Kong, London, Colombo, Jeddah, Berlin, Goa & Islamabad. His most recent body of work plays with re-interpretations of popular global visual culture at the intersection of current affairs, cultural identity and technology. His pastel drawing “Beruwala Blues” is in the Lahore Museums collection of contemporary paintings.
